Despite recent reports, that Konami is scaling back its effort in the console space. The Japanese game publisher has come forward to denies such claims. It also spoke the availability of the Metal Gear franchise, without serious creator Hideo Kojima at help.
In an interview with GameDaily, Konami community manager Graham Day was asked "Whether not be Metal Gear franchise could continue without Kojima?" To which he replied "Yeah! Of Course it can. Metal Gear is about the story, it's about the characters and i think, Yes!"
They even sited the studios collaboration with Platinum Games, as they successfully used the brand, and said "Look at things like Metal Gear Rising, that was an exemple of the title being taken in a new direction, by separate teams with obviously hands in from other parties. And it was itself very very good game as well! And it was obviously led by a completly diffrent team"
With regards to Konami's commitment to making more AAA console games in the future, they confirm that Konami's strands is not waving. They reply : "Don't believe everything you read on the press. That's never changed! Things had being taken out of contact, but that's never changed."
